Immigration Insurance in 2024. How to make a claim on your immigration insurance

In this article, we are aiming to help with how to claim compensation for medical expenses, if case you have taken out an immigration health insurance policy as required for your residency permit from the immigration service.

If any health issues arise that require treatment, you can visit any doctor of your choice with your insurance policy island wide, regardless of your city of residence.

In order to make a claim, you need to provide us with the following:

  1. The doctor’s diagnosis
  2. The invoice;
  3. Payment confirmation for medical services and medicine (receipt, prescription for medicine etc);
  4. The results of tests and examinations (X-ray, ultrasound, MRI, laboratory tests, results of cardiography, etc.);
  5. Any other supporting documents.

Our office will then provide you with a form that should be filled out by your doctor, where he/she will record the results from his/her examinations. This form can be emailed to you if you are unable to pass by to collect it. It is also very important that you yourself can describe what kind of health problems you had and when you first got sick.

We then need to obtain the original documents related to your claim, confirming your medical expenses. If you are located in a different part of the island, and bringing them to us yourself is not possible, you can arrange to send them via a courier service.

Attention! The documentation must be sent to the insurance company within 14 days from the date of illness. If the illness is extended, you will need to send new documents to confirm.

Getting the immigration health insurance is mandatory according to the Legislation of Cyprus; that being said, the terms and parameters of the insurance are almost the same in most insurance companies. As it is a lower cost policy, there are quite a few exceptions concerning claims, which in turn can make it harder for policy holders to receive compensation. However, this is the only way that the Immigration Service will approve your application for one of the residency permits (e.g. Yellow Slip, Pink Slip, Permanent Residence).

If you are looking for a more comprehensive health insurance that better suits your needs, you can view our packages here and get in touch with us for a quote.
